Book review: Celestine Prophecy

Drawing on the ancient wisdom found in a Peruvian manuscript

‘The Celestine Prophecy - An Adventure’ by James Redfield (Bantam; First Printing edition (6 Oct. 1994))

The Celestine Prophecy contains secrets that are currently changing our world. Drawing on the ancient wisdom found in a Peruvian manuscript, it tells you how to make connections between the events happening in your own life right now…and lets you see what is going to happen to you in the years to come.

Back in 1993 James Redfield self-published this book called The Celestine Prophecy, which became a worldwide best seller and was translated into 34 different languages. The Celestine Prophecy is a work of fiction, containing nine spiritual insights.

The male character in the story is writing in the first-person and starting with the first ‘insight’ discovers the law of synchronicity, in which all of humanknd are connected by a greater consciousness and sometimes a mere coincidence could mean more than that. Synchronicity features heavily throughout the nine insights. As the character continues his journey, he meets other characters who impart the knowledge of a particular insight.

Personally, I found this book easy to read and entertaining and I treated it like the work of fiction that it is. Nonetheless, the book does offer hope and a positive outlook to life and does leave the reader with a sense of curiousity - are all the coincidences in my life merely that? Or did synchronicity play its part in bringing me together with a loved one, or a moment that changed my life?

James Redfield has published some more fiction and non-fiction books and has co-written a screenplay. His website Celestine Vision (link below) contains articles, coaching and you’ll find the ‘Events’ category, where:

Something beautiful is happening…

This subject is mentioned in greater detail in other books and media and is mentioned in The Law of Attraction. This website gives further information about coincidence vs synchronicity.
